A number of years ago I decided to get out of the rat race and spend time doing something I truly loved. With a lifelong passion for gardens and a vivid imagination, re-training as a garden designer was a natural step.
I loved the idea that gardens are often tucked away, a secret space to enjoy whatever is important to you, whether that be relaxing in nature, growing your own veggies or entertaining.
Everything about your garden can be personal - the colours, the shapes, the style… the quirks. Your outdoor space is unique to you and so is my work. I love bringing this personalisation to life by hand, in pen and ink drawings, and then watercolour.
People particularly seem to like the style of the final designs which I produce as aerial watercolour images and often want them framed. After a number of requests in the UK and overseas, I started offering artwork as an additional service for people who already have beautiful gardens that they would like to capture in this style.
For me, the success of a bespoke design or artwork stems from the relationship – really listening to what my clients want and then injecting my expertise to create a final piece which feels totally personal and exceeds expectations.
I believe that having something created ‘especially for you’ should feel like a luxury experience. This is what I do, and it seems to make people very happy.
Dan trained in Garden Design at the National Design Academy and is fully insured.
